Compact Djembe

Don't be fooled by their smaller size, these high quality compact djembes are made by the best djembe makers in the world in the country of Mali, and pack a punch in both sound and versatility!  They are our go to drums for drum circles and music jams, taking on the road and around a bonfire, and can make a great instrument for personal drum meditation.  We are so happy to include them in the Earth Instrument collection!

They have a higher pitched sound without a booming base, but a really cool feature you can't achieve on a larger djembe....by moving one hand in and out of the opening at the base while you play in the center of the drum head with your other hand, you can change the 'note' of the drum!  Because of their smaller size, a great way to play these drums is sideways in your lap over one leg more like a middle eastern style drum (dumbek style), versus between the legs like the larger traditional djembe.
