Beautiful Sounds is excited to showcase the unique handcrafted Spiral Sounds® Rainsticks invented by artisan Noah Rectenwald of Rainstick Dreams and handcrafted by Noah and a growing team of artisans in Pittsburgh, PA!

These unique rainsticks incorporate natural materials like amaranth (a small ancient grain) as the fill material for softer rain sounds, clear micro glass beads for louder rain sounds, and the new crystalline beads for the loudest rain sounds.

The simulated rain sound acts as a soothing and consistent background white noise that can bring the nervous system and mind into greater relaxation. 

And unlike other rainsticks on the market, these ingenious rainsticks were designed for much longer playing time, and stand up on their own ends without the need to hold it in your hands during play.  They are perfect for personal relaxation and meditation at home, yoga and meditation classes, or for including in sound baths.  

Spiral Sounds® Rainsticks are a very cool way to add another layer of sound to your voice or other instruments on top of the rainstick sound.   Or you can just use the rainstick all by itself for a relaxing experience with the natural sound of rain in any space!

How do I choose which Spiral Sounds® Rainstick fits my needs?

Similar the an hourglass, once the rainstick is placed upright with most or all the contents in the top compartment, gravity brings the contents through a small opening and a continuous amount of grains, seed or beads cascade down the internal wooden dowel spiral staircase, creating a prolonged rain sound.

Meet the Makers

Noah Rectenwald is the principal designer and creator of instruments and stands at Rainstick Dreams®. In 2012, he first experimented with building rainsticks while completing his Master's degree in Music Composition in The Hague, Netherlands. There, the Dutch taste for design and efficiency shaped his creative vision.

At the heart of Noah's instrument-making was a goal to create a long duration rainstick. Over the next seven years, his instruments evolved into the clear, long duration rainsticks with the visible Spiral Sounds® design that Rainstick Dreams® is known for. Noah's Spiral Sounds® rainsticks last up to 20 minutes, offering an oasis of tranquility for sound baths, meditation, and moments of reset.

Launching the business in 2021, Noah and his partner Jaclyn established a workshop at the Ice House Studios in Pittsburgh, PA, USA. As the demand for Noah's invention of the long duration rainstick grew, he began training a handful of skilled craftspeople to work alongside him in 2023.

Every instrument and stand is made with detailed precision by a small team in Pittsburgh, PA. Noah considers the song of the Spiral Sounds® rainstick to be his most masterful composition. He let it lead his dreams — let it lead you into yours!
